Apple has introduced its new HomeView device, a smart home hub built around the same Siri AI technology that recently cost the company a 250 million dollar settlement with iPhone users. The announcement comes shortly after Apple agreed to compensate customers over delays involving promised AI features on its phones.
The HomeView device relies on Apple Intelligence and an upgraded Siri to manage home automation, answer questions, and control connected appliances through voice commands. Apple positions the product as a central hub for the smart home, combining a display with always listening assistant capabilities.
The timing raises questions. The earlier settlement stemmed from claims that Apple marketed AI powered features that were not ready when advertised. Critics say the company is now betting on the very technology that triggered customer frustration and legal costs.
Apple maintains that the Siri improvements behind HomeView represent a significant step forward, with faster response times and better contextual understanding. The company has not disclosed a release date or pricing. Analysts note that Apple needs the device to succeed as competition in the smart home market intensifies. Whether customers trust the new pitch after the settlement remains an open question.
