Australia's Firmus Technologies strikes AI access deal with Nvidia

Australian artificial intelligence infrastructure company Firmus Technologies announced on Monday that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Nvidia Corp. The deal aims to give emerging AI companies more affordable access to computing power.

Under the agreement, Firmus will purchase Nvidia infrastructure and sell Nvidia-powered cloud services to what it calls "AI Native" customers. The arrangement will generate product revenue for the U.S.-listed chip giant, as well as a share of the cloud revenue.

Firmus said it expects to earn up to $30 billion in revenue during the first six years of the deal, based on existing customer commitments. The partnership is designed to lower the cost barrier for smaller AI firms that often struggle to secure the high-performance computing resources needed to train and run their models.

The announcement comes as demand for AI computing power continues to surge globally, with companies like Nvidia seeing massive growth in their data center business. By offering Nvidia-powered cloud services, Firmus hopes to capture a slice of that demand while providing a more accessible entry point for startups and other emerging players in the AI space.
