Columbus State Community College will name its new automotive technology facility Germain Hall in recognition of a substantial philanthropic contribution. College officials announced the decision after receiving a gift of 2.7 million dollars, a donation that will support the expansion and modernization of the school's automotive training programs.
The facility is designed to give students hands-on experience with current vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques. It will include updated classrooms, lab space, and equipment meant to reflect the technology now used in dealerships and independent shops. According to the college, the gift will help address growing demand for trained technicians in central Ohio and strengthen partnerships with local employers.
The Germain name is well known in the regional automotive industry, and the college said the recognition reflects the family's long involvement in the community and its interest in workforce development. Classes and program operations are expected to move into the building as the project moves forward, with the college planning to share additional details about scheduling and enrollment in the coming months.
Students in the automotive program will use the new space to complete coursework and practical training required for entry into the field. The college said the donation will also support instructional resources and equipment upgrades that align with industry standards.
