commercetools and Mirion Technologies co-design AI agent to cut B2B order intake time

commercetools and Mirion Technologies have rolled out a new B2B Intake Agent designed to slash the time it takes to process incoming orders. The tool, built on commercetools' composable commerce platform and Mirion's industry expertise, automatically converts messy, unstructured order requests into clean quotes and shopping carts in just minutes.

In traditional B2B sales, customers often send orders via email, PDF, or even spreadsheets. Sales teams then manually re-enter that data into their systems, a process that can take hours or even days. The new agent uses AI to parse these varied formats, extract product codes, quantities, and pricing, and then generate a ready-to-process quote or cart. This cuts out the back-and-forth and reduces human error.

The companies say the agent is particularly useful for manufacturers and distributors with complex catalogs. Instead of waiting for a sales rep to decode a handwritten note or a scanned purchase order, the system handles it instantly. Early tests showed order intake time dropping from hours to under five minutes.

Mirion Technologies, which provides radiation detection and measurement solutions, worked closely with commercetools to train the AI on real-world B2B order patterns. The result is a tool that understands industry-specific terms and abbreviations without needing constant manual updates.

The launch signals a growing trend in B2B commerce: using AI to automate the grunt work of order management. For now, the agent is available to commercetools customers, with plans to expand its capabilities over time.
