Defense and space technology company expands business in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - A defense and space technology firm has officially opened its expanded operations in the Duke City. BlackVie Inc. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday to mark the completion of its new facility, a move that fulfills a commitment the company made to grow its presence in the region.

The company, which focuses on space security and advanced defense systems, said the new location will allow it to increase its engineering and manufacturing capacity. BlackVie officials noted that Albuquerque's talent pool and proximity to federal research labs were key factors in the decision to expand here. The facility is expected to support new jobs in areas like systems integration, testing, and software development.

City and state leaders attended the event, praising the company for its investment in the local economy. BlackVie has been operating in Albuquerque for several years, but this expansion marks a significant step up in its footprint. The new space is designed to handle larger projects and more complex contracts, particularly those related to satellite technology and space domain awareness.

The company says it plans to continue hiring locally over the next year. This project adds to a growing list of aerospace and defense firms that have chosen Albuquerque as a base for their work.
