SoFi Technologies (SOFI) is drawing attention again after SoFi Bank and Mastercard moved the bank's reported $25 billion card program to SoFiUSD stablecoin settlement across Mastercard's global payments network. The shift marks a notable step for the company as it pushes deeper into blockchain-based payment infrastructure.
Even with the SoFiUSD launch, SoFi Technologies' share price has struggled. The 30-day share price return is down 12 percent, and the year-to-date move sits at a decline of 39.62 percent. Momentum has faded recently after a strong longer run. The 3-year total shareholder return remains up about 108 percent, which suggests investors who held through volatility still came out ahead.
The mixed performance raises a straightforward question: is the stock fairly valued at current levels? Supporters point to the stablecoin settlement rollout as evidence of real product progress and a possible long-term revenue driver. Skeptics note that price weakness and fading momentum may signal that the market already priced in much of the growth story.
For now, SoFi sits at a crossroads between innovation in payments and a stock chart that has lost steam. How the stablecoin effort translates into tangible financial results will likely shape the valuation debate from here.
