In recent years, my engagement with Facebook has significantly decreased, a shift that can largely be attributed to social media fatigue. The constant barrage of intrusive advertisements and targeted content featuring individuals I have no connection with has left me feeling overwhelmed. Despite this decline in use, I have not completely withdrawn from the platform. It still serves as a crucial link to friends and acquaintances from my high school days, allowing me to maintain some semblance of connection.
However, this relationship with technology raises important questions about the impact of social media on our humanity. While it offers a convenient way to stay in touch, it can also create a sense of isolation and disconnection from those who matter most. The challenge lies in finding a balance between leveraging technology for meaningful connections and recognizing its potential to erode genuine human interaction. As we navigate this digital landscape, it is essential to remain mindful of how it shapes our relationships and our sense of community.
