In a significant boost for local education, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians has donated $93,000 to thirteen public schools across Santa Barbara County. The grants, distributed through the tribe’s Education Technology Program, are specifically earmarked for critical upgrades to classroom technology and digital learning tools.
The funding will empower schools to purchase essential equipment such as new computers, interactive smart boards, advanced software, and other hardware to enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education. This initiative directly addresses the growing need for modern technological resources in classrooms, ensuring students have access to the tools required for success in a digital world.
“Investing in the education of our local youth is an investment in the future of our entire community,” said a tribal representative. “By providing these technology grants, we hope to bridge resource gaps and create more equitable and engaging learning environments for all students.”
School administrators expressed profound gratitude for the timely support, noting that the funds will allow them to implement long-planned technological advancements without straining their existing budgets. The donations underscore the tribe’s longstanding commitment to supporting educational opportunities and community development throughout the Santa Barbara County region.
