MEDFORD, Ore. – Residents at the Rogue Valley Manor are gaining valuable insights into technology thanks to the efforts of local students. A collaborative initiative known as Tele-tech has been established between the manor and a nearby school, where students from the IT club dedicate their time to assist elderly residents with various tech-related queries.
The initiative has proven beneficial for both parties; while the students enhance their communication and teaching skills, the residents receive much-needed support in navigating modern technology. From downloading applications to sharing photos and managing digital files, the students patiently guide the residents through the complexities of their devices.
This intergenerational program not only helps seniors become more comfortable with technology but also fosters a sense of community and connection between the generations. As technology continues to evolve, initiatives like Tele-tech play a crucial role in ensuring that elderly individuals are not left behind in the digital age.
