This technology will make humans much more efficient, Steve Moore says

Unleash Prosperity co-founder Steve Moore argues that artificial intelligence is poised to dramatically boost human efficiency, dismissing concerns that the technology will eliminate jobs. Speaking on a recent program, Moore pushed back against calls from Senator Elizabeth Warren and other lawmakers to impose new taxes on AI development and deployment.

Moore described AI as a transformative tool that will allow workers to focus on higher-level tasks rather than repetitive drudgery. He compared the current wave of innovation to the advent of the internet or the personal computer, both of which initially sparked fears of mass unemployment but ultimately created new industries and opportunities.

The economist specifically criticized Senator Warren's proposal to tax AI systems, calling it a misguided attempt to slow progress. "This technology will make humans much more efficient," Moore said. "Instead of taxing it, we should be encouraging it." He argued that regulatory hurdles and punitive taxes would only push innovation overseas, hurting American competitiveness.

Moore acknowledged that some job displacement is inevitable but stressed that history shows technology leads to net job creation. He pointed to sectors like healthcare, education, and logistics where AI can augment human capabilities rather than replace them entirely. The key, he said, is ensuring workers have access to retraining and that businesses can adapt quickly.

The debate comes as AI tools like chatbots and automation software become more widespread, raising questions about labor markets and economic inequality. Moore's comments align with a growing chorus of free-market advocates who argue that the best response to AI is to let it flourish, not to tax or restrict it.
