WALLACE STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE - The Machine Tool Technology program at Wallace State Community College will hold a three-day CNC Machining Camp from July 13 through July 15. The camp is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of computer numerical control machining.
Participants will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment. The curriculum covers basic machine setup, tooling, and programming. Organizers say the camp aims to spark interest in advanced manufacturing careers.
The camp is open to current high school students and recent graduates. No prior machining experience is required. Instructors will guide attendees through safe operation of CNC mills and lathes.
Registration is limited to ensure individual attention. Those interested can sign up through the college's workforce development office. The camp runs daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the main campus.
Wallace State's Machine Tool Technology program has a strong track record of placing graduates in local manufacturing jobs. The camp serves as a pipeline for students considering technical careers. It also gives participants a preview of the college's full degree and certificate offerings in precision machining.
